Reading

At Much Woolton we recognise English has a pre-eminent place in education and society. We also recognise that a secure grasp of English is fundamental to effective learning and opens doors to further learning, training and the world of work, whilst poor skills are a significant barrier to progress achievement and opportunities later in life. Our pupils learn to read and write effectively and quickly using the Read Write Inc. Phonics programme. They progress onto Read Write Inc. Literacy and Language once they can read with accuracy and speed. In Year 6 your child will then study English though a quality text approach.

We hope this page will give you some updates on what your child is reading and how they are developing their reading skills. You will be able to find information on reading with your child at home, some top tips for helping them make progress or have a look at what your child is reading as their whole class novel.
