We are so excited to work with you all and have so many lovely things planned for the year.

Homework will all be online and consists of TT Rockstars where weekly competitions are set up, Spelling Shed with your weekly spellings and Oxford Owl for your child to choose a book at their own level.  In addition, all year 6 children are set up on Reading Plus where they are able to complete tasks which will test their vocabulary acquisition and comprehension of the texts they are reading.

**Reading Plus should be completed at least 3 times per week (5 reading lessons + 3 vocabulary) and other homework is to be completed each evening. The expectations in Year 6 are geared towards preparing our pupils for the transition to secondary school and a secondary School workload **

In Year 6 spellings are set on a Tuesday and tested on the following Tuesday in class. Spelling lists will be issued on a half termly basis. Spelling shed also has the weekly spelling as another way for your child to practice. Should you misplace your spelling list, you will find a copy on this page.

Home Learning September 2020

PLEASE TRY TO LOG IN TO GOOGLE CLASSROOM AS YOUR WORK CAN NOW BE SUBMITTED TO YOUR TEACHER THROUGH THIS. YOU WILL HAVE RECEIVED YOUR LOG IN DETAILS THROUGH PARENTMAIL.

We will be continuing on  from what we were doing last week in school. Each day you will find an overview of your lessons here and any of the resources or tasks that you need can be found below, highlighted as a blue file. Click on them and they will open for you. Please let us know if you are having any difficulties in accessing the work.

Maths

This week in maths we are looking at the four operations.  Today you will revise factors and multiples. These will help you with long division next week. Watch the videos posted, pausing when you need to for practise. Then try some of the tasks by choosing your star. Find the work below. There are some practise questions in the powerpoint and then some word problems for you to solve.  There is also an extension for anyone that would like to give it a go.

English

Today, we will be writing a diary entry as Hunpty Dumpty aiming to include fronted adverbials to build cohesion in our writing.

Keep up to date with your Spelling Shed to help you learn your weekly spellings. Try to use each one in a sentence of your own! Do you know the meanings? Use a dictionary to help you find the definitions of tricky new words.

Dont forget reading is done via Oxford Owl. But if you are reading a book you really enjoy, then don't stop! We would love to hear all about it! If you are unsure of your reading level, ask Miss. McLeod, Miss. Doherty or Mr.Simspon.

HISTORY

We are still historians this week learning all about The Maya Civilisation. Today, we will look at Mayan Gods and dress.

P.E.

There is a choice of three activities to complete for your PE lesson today.
