Our teachers are: Miss Ralston and Mrs Davies who are assisted by Mrs Niblock.
Our spelling lists can be found on our page. Please help your child practice these at home for their written spelling test every Monday.
Children should have their books with them every day. Please ensure school books are read at home and reading logs are signed at least once a week. All children are heard reading during phonics sessions and some will also read on a 1:1 basis with Mrs Niblock. Please keep reading your own books at home alongside our reading scheme and ask lots of questions about what has been read. To further assist your child with their reading please watch the following videos https://www.ruthmiskin.com/en/find-out-more/parents/
PE will take place on Monday with Mr Hathaway and Thursday with the class teacher. Children should wear the corect school PE kit on these days.
We are keen to help the children become independent learners and thinkers, please encourage them to organise themselves and look after their belongings in school. Please regularly ensure all uniform is clearly labeled.

Home Learning 2020
Our web page has been updated with work in the 'files to download' section at the very bottom of the page. Work will be updated weekly with new tasks to complete.
Reading/Phonics - Reading needs to be done daily, this includes school reading books as children need to read books that are at the appropriate level. Guidance to help your child with their phonics is available in our reading section above. Phonics games are linked below and a previous phonics screening test is attached.
English - There will be 5 writing tasks to complete for English. There will also be a weekly GPS activity that has varying levels of difficulty for different abilities. Handwriting sheets should also be completed daily.
Maths - In Maths we cover a lot of different objectives each week. As the children are learning new skills they need to be taught these. A PowerPoint presentation has been uploaded for each daily objective. Along with this we have provided fluency activities and reasoning/problem solving tasks that have varying levels of difficulty for different abilities. Answer sheets are also provided to support parents.
Topic - A weekly research project to be completed covering the objectives for that unit of work. Subjects and focuses can be found in the downloads at the bottom of the page.
RE - Our topic is 'Change'. Please take the time to discuss the period of Lent and Easter with your Children. Scripture and prayers can be downloaded below and it might be nice to make up some of your own prayers for others during this time.
In addition to the work provided please ensure spellings are still being practiced daily. Children need to be doing daily counting forwards and backwards in ones, twos, fives and tens. Where appropriate allow children time outside to practice basic skills like catching, throwing and even a little dancing!
Suggested websites for additional resources and home activites. Some are offering free log in details to parents for a period of time and others are free to access.
No internet... No problem!
- Read together, write a magical story, describe your favourite animal, write about the things you can find in the garden, write a movie/book review, make your own phonics cards and do a teddy bear RWInc lesson
- Count objects in your house, make up you own calculations and challenge your family, make a giant numberline, measure things, bake a cake and measure your ingredients, learn to tell the time, count in 2's 5's & 10's, count how many exercises you can do in a minute
The whole world can be your classroom!
We hope that everyone is staying safe and we look forward to seeing everybody again soon.
Miss Ralston, Mrs Davies & Mrs Niblock
